Meet the team | HR
By Victoria Cowan, 13 October 2021

My Jewellery is always looking for fun new colleagues, and the team in this Meet the Team is responsible for finding them! Our HR team is going to be sharing their interview tips, telling us what they love most about the job & lifting the lid on their main responsibilities.

Colleague Renske Grootenboer
Position: Recruiter

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
It's been almost two years, time really flies when you're having fun!

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
The other recruiter(s) and I are responsible for making sure there's a continuous influx of new My Jewellery employees. So we're in charge of all open vacancies and are always looking for new employees for our Head Office and in our warehouse. In the meantime, we've also been working on expanding internationally, which is really awesome!

What makes you proud to work for My Jewellery?
There's so much passion and drive within the company. Everyone loves to work for My Jewellery and that shows on a daily basis. I also love to see people that I interviewed walking around the company, it goes to show how much we're growing & expanding.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Be yourself & ask questions! The beginning stages of an interview really are a matter of two parties getting to know each other: we're getting to know you, but you're also getting to know us! So ask questions, be curious and try to determine whether My Jewellery is a good fit.

Colleague Miriam Pijnappel
Position: HR advisor Warehouse

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
I started in November 2020, so that makes it almost a year!

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
I'm responsible for all HR related issues for our Warehouse staff. Staff members and team leaders come to me for advice on for instance contracts or absence. Besides that my colleagues and I are working on streamlining the professionalism of our HR-policies.

What makes you proud to work for My Jewellery?
My friends are all jealous of the staff discount I get at My Jewellery, but I'm most proud of working for a company that really values their employees. Sometimes that appreciation is shown with gifts, but we also believe it's important to really express that appreciation in words.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Learn from every interview. Maybe it's not a match right now, and that can really suck, but with hindsight it's never wasted time or energy, so go for it!

Colleague Christa Rozeboom
Position: HR-representative Retail

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
3.5 years

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
I am in charge of human resources for all of our boutique employees. I focus mainly on administrative tasks and projects for our boutiques, and once a week I will visit boutiques to see how the teams are doing.

What makes you proud to work for My Jewellery?
The space I've been given to grow and develop.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Show yourself! A picture, a little creativity in your CV or in the way you write your cover letter will go a long way.

Colleague Sophie Groothuis
Position: HR assistant

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
I have been in this role for 1 year and 8 months, but before that I worked as a temp-worker in the warehouse for 6 months, so I'd say it's been a little over 2 years in total!

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
As HR-assistant I make sure all contracts and/or contractual changes are sorted. I also ensure all of our employees' personal information is up-to-date and correct in our systems, participate on new projects within the team and make sure everyone gets a little gift for their birthday.

What do you enjoy most about working at My Jewellery?
My Jewellery is expanding so quickly, and yet, never forgets about their employees. I've felt right at home here from the very beginning. Everyone gets the chance they deserve and there are so many growth opportunities. I think people are willing to always do their best for My Jewellery, because they know they'll get it right back.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Be yourself! Of course we're always looking for someone who'll fit in with the team, but that doesn't mean it can't be you. Tell us about yourself: your hobbies and interests, and be enthusiastic in telling us what made you want to apply for this particular role in the first place

Colleague Maud van Lanen
Position: HR-advisor Head Office

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
I'm approaching the three year mark, time flies!

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
As HR-advisor I mainly focus on all HR related issues at our Head Office. Given the amount of different departments and staff positions, it means every day is different from the next! Alongside daily questions from managers or staff members relating to, for instance. development or contracts, I'm also continuously working on various projects to make our jobs easier and more fun.

What makes you proud to work for My Jewellery?
The growth we've experienced at My Jewellery the last few years is insane! In the past three years, we've gone from 100 to more than 400 members of staff. Being a part of such a fast-growing company that has managed to maintain its "family culture" makes me so happy and proud.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Be the best version of yourself! Of course it's important to be convincing and confident during your interview, but don't pretend to be someone you're not because that will always come back to bite you. Be yourself & tell us how you would make My Jewellery even stronger :) .

Colleague Leonieke Vroom
Position: Recruiter

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
Unbelievably, it's been 10 months already!

Can you tell us a little something about your daily tasks/responsibilities?
As a recruiter I spend most of my time looking for new colleagues to add to the My Jewellery team. I meet with team coordinators & managers who are looking to expand their teams, I write up job vacancies, promote our vacancies, approach possible new colleagues and conduct interviews.

What makes you proud to work for My Jewellery?
Multiple things, but the main thing is the employees! There is such a good vibe around the office, everyone is there to help and support each other. Also, everyone's really motivated to bring out the best in ourselves and each other.

What is your ultimate interview tip?
Be prepared. I'm always curious to know why you responded to this vacancy and why you think you'd be a good fit at My Jewellery.
