The 3 measurements for measuring for trousers
A good or bad fit determines your entire look, so it is important to know what your size is. Most brands indicate the sizes of their jeans or trousers with W/L in their size chart. The W stands for waist width in inches and L for the length of your legs. For example, if you have a waist width of 89 cm and an inseam of 82 cm, then your jeans or pants size is 32/32. The three most common measurements for trouser measurements are: waist size, hip size and length.
STEP 1. Measure your waist size
The waist is the 'narrowest' part of your upper body. Take the tape measure forward from the back, around the waist and pull it around the body. Make sure the tape measure is horizontal and that the tape measure is not pulled too tight.
STEP 2. Measure your hip size
The hip measurement is measured over the 'widest' part of your lower body. Put your feet together and pull the tape measure forward over your buttocks from the back and measure where your thighs are the fullest. Here too, make sure that the tape measure is horizontal and not pulled too tight
STEP 3. Measure your length
The length is measured from the top of your inseam to just over the ankle. It is advisable to use a sturdy tape measure for this.
