Our Clothing Materials

My Jewellery believes that it’s very important to make conscious and responsible choices to ensure that the earth is preserved for our future generations as well. Making conscious choices starts by selecting the right materials since this has the biggest impact on the environment. Our long-term goal is to create a collection that is exclusively made of sustainable & certified clothing materials. At My Jewellery products are labelled sustainable when the product is made from at least 50% sustainable materials. However, this doesn’t mean that these sustainable materials don’t have any impact on the environment at all, but they do have less of a negative impact on the environment in comparison to conventional materials.

At My Jewellery we use the ‘Fibre Matrix’, this is a tool that subdivides all the different materials in one out of four categories: 'conventional’, ‘preferred’, ‘better’ and ‘best’. Our buying department and designers use this as a guide to make more responsible choices during the product development process.

Our goal for 2023 is to try and make sure that 20% of the materials used in our collections are sustainable. By 2024 we want to try and double this percentage. Eventually, we want to try to become 100% sustainable as quickly as we possibly can. However, we’re aware that not every material has a suitable alternative and that some suppliers need more time to move the sustainable movement forward.

Our sustainable items can be recognized by the extra tags and labels which provide you with some more information on the material and the benefits of buying sustainable items.

The fabrics we use in our collections can fall under one out of three material categories; natural, synthetic & cellulose-based materials.
