How do I fold a T-shirt?

Everyone knows the feeling of walking around a store where all T-shirts are neatly folded and colour-coordinated and thinking to yourself, ‘’wow I wish my closet looked like this aesthetically pleasing as well’’ Well, making your folded T-shirts look aesthetically pleasing isn’t actually that hard and we will teach you how to become a T-shirt folding pro in no-time! Because sleek looking T-shirts bundles don’t only look good they also provide you with more space in your closet to fill with new pieces!

  1. Put your T-shirt down on a table (or any other horizontal surface). Make sure your T-shirt is horizontally positioned in such a way that the collar of the T-shirt is on your left and the bottom of the T-shirt is on your right.

  2. Grab the part of the T-shirt that’s closest to you, so the sleeve that’s on the bottom left and the bottom part of your T-shirt on the bottom right. Fold these two parts to the middle of the T-shirt, making sure that you also grab the sleeves when folding.

  3. Now grab the part of the sleeve that you’ve just folded inwards and fold it again! However this time you need to fold it towards yourself.

  4. Repeat step 1 till 3 for the other unfolded side of the T-shirt. Make sure that after folding your T-shirt this side overlaps with the other folded part.

  5. Now grab the collar of your T-shirt and fold it just a little bit off from the bottom.

  6. Next, you can choose to fold it again to create a square shape. Alternatively, you can fold it once more. This way you can also create a little tower of stacked T-shirts.

How do you tie a T-shirt?

You can tie a T-shirt many different ways. Our biggest tip though is to buy a size up when you would like to tie your T-shirt. A loose fit on your T-shirt makes tying it way easier! All T-shirt tying techniques can be found in our styling a T-shirt blog.

How do I iron a T-shirt?

Ironing…. it’s not one of our favourite tasks on our to-do list. However, stepping outside with a creased T-shirt is even worse. So how do you actually iron your T-shirt correctly? With just 3 steps you’re ready to face the day crease-free. Easy peasy!

  1. Grab your sleeve and put it on top of the ironing board. Iron this part of the sleeve first. Now flip the T-shirt so the other part of that same sleeve faces you. Now iron this part of the sleeve. Do the same for the other sleeve.

  2. Grab your T-shirt and pull it over the end of the ironing board. Now the top part of your T-shirt will be laying on top of the ironing board and the bottom will be hanging under the ironing board. Now grab your iron and iron the top of your T-shirt. Keep on turning the T-shirt around the ironing board and iron each part as you go! Keep on repeating until you have ironed your entire T-shirt.

  3. Go over the seams and collar of your T-shirt one extra time using the tip of the iron. Always look at the washing label to determine the heat setting of your iron & remember to never directly iron the print on your T-shirt.

How to get white T-shirts white again?

After wearing your white T-shirt for a while stains are very likely to get on your T-shirt. Because let’s be real, eating any food without accidentally spilling on yourself is an art form in itself. And even more annoying are those yellow pit stains that show up after a while. Side note: those yellow pit stains do not mean you have poor hygiene. They simply appear because your sweat and deodorant mix together (we know this doesn’t sound great) creating a chemical reaction that stains your clothes. Let us help you out with these 4 tips that will make your T-shirts crisp and white again.

  1. Add some soda to your laundry detergent

  2. Boil some water with lemon slices. Turn off the heat and let your T-shirt soak in this water.

  3. Let an aspirin dissolve in hot water and let your T-shirt soak in this water for the night.

  1. Add a dash of hydrogen peroxide to your laundry. It acts as a natural bleach brightening your clothes that without the harshness of traditional bleach. (Note: This method can only be used for plain white T-shirts without any prints).

How can I make a T-shirt smaller?

Honey, I shrunk the T-shirts… intentionally making your T-shirt shrink? Yes, this is definitely possible and another T-shirt hack that might actually be handy to know about. What if your size is sold out and you have to go for a bigger size? Maybe you even have an old T-shirt laying around that’s a little too big on you now? Then making your T-shirt smaller might be the perfect solution to these problems. We will tell you all about how you can make 100% cotton smaller.

How to shrink a shirt in the dryer

The most safe option is using a spray bottle. Spray a small amount of water on the T-shirt using your spray bottle. Now, put your T-shirt into the dryer and select the permanent press cycle. Let this cycle run for about 10-15 minutes and you’ll notice that your T-shirt will have a slightly tighter fit again! Do you want your T-shirt to have an extremely tight fit? Then select the permanent press cycle again and put your dryer on a higher temperature. However, the most effective way to permanently shrink your T-shirt is to first wash your clothes on a very high spin cycle & temperature in your washing machine. Nextly, put your T-shirt in the dryer. This will make it shrink as well. However, using a dryer on your T-shirt will lessen the quality of your product.

Shrinking clothes in boiling water

Fill up a bowl or a sink with hot water. The hotter the water the more your T-shirt will shrink. After filling up your bowl or sink with hot water, put your T-shirt in the water and let it soak for 5 minutes. The longer you’ll let your T-shirt soak in the hot water the more it will shrink. After  your T-shirt is done soaking, wring it out. Be careful not to stretch the T-shirt when doing this. The T-shirt can stretch instead of shrink when you’re pulling on the edges. Lastly, let your T-shirt dry drown on top of a drying rack.
