Colleague Arnoud Andeweg
Job function: IT Manager

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
For almost six months!

Can you tell us more about your daily work?
As IT manager, I want to make sure that everybody within My Jewellery can perform well with the right tools and insights. Together with two product teams, we build innovative solutions on the Google Cloud Platform. For example, we developed our own Influencer marketing tool to make the lives of our influencer marketers a lot easier.

Which project are you most proud of?
I am most proud of building a team where everyone is happy and driven to find the best solutions for the company. There is a start, but we still need new colleagues to grow our teams and create more impact.

What do you enjoy the most about working in the BI team at My Jewellery?
I enjoy the combination of continuous learning (and growing) and the fast support that I can offer to my colleagues. My Jewellery as a company is very data-driven, and therefore, the insights that our BI team produces become very workable. Moreover, we’re also continuously working on new tools and methods. It makes my job very diverse, and I also learn a lot.

Colleague Martijn Hooijman
Job function: Data Engineer

How long have you been working at My Jewellery? Almost five years.

Can you tell us more about your daily work?
My daily work entails data extraction from various data sources (such as the webshop, ERP, Google Search Console), cleaning the data and measuring the quality of the data. Through Airflow, we plan data-extraction jobs to have newly cleaned data available in our data storage in Biqquery. From there, we can use the data for other purposes such as dashboards, analyses and machine learning models.

Which project are you most proud of?
There’s not one project that I am particularly proud of, overall I am pleased with the data extraction/cleanup/quality system that I have developed over the last months. This system allows a fast connection of new data sources.

What do you enjoy the most about working in the BI team at My Jewellery?
A positive culture and great colleagues.

Colleague Petra Gebbinck
Job function: Data Analyst

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
Since February 2021, so almost five months.

Can you tell us more about your daily work?
As a Data Analyst at My Jewellery, I am responsible for processing and analysing data to provide support and advice to all the business departments. Since My Jewellery is such a young, innovative, growing company, there are many possibilities related to data. You might start the week by performing an analysis for the purchasing team. Next up, you’re providing the management team with the right reports, and you end the week with an assignment for customer service. What I like most about this job is that you’re constantly switching between different departments. Results of your efforts also show very fast.

Which project are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fast growth of My Jewellery and how we respond to this as the data team. New tools and innovations get tested each week to stay one step ahead!

What do you enjoy the most about working in the BI team at My Jewellery?
The BI team at My Jewellery is a hard-working and ambitious team. We always try to help each other, but there’s also enough time for fun things, such as office drinks, team building, and just catching up with each other. The developments within the team and the enormous growth of My Jewellery from the base of a great work atmosphere.

Colleague Chaniek Peeters
Job function: Business Intelligence Specialist

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
A little over two years.

Can you tell us more about your daily work?
Together with the business team and the development team, we ensure that the entire company is working data-driven. It means that we make decisions based on data but also improve processes, or even automate them. That way, we know exactly how many orders are pending in the warehouse and the exact order picking speed. Based on that information, we can adjust the planning.

Which project are you most proud of?
When I just started working here, there wasn’t much. Together with my colleagues, we improved the data quality. Moreover, we also developed more than 20 dashboards, which are still used daily.

What do you enjoy the most about working in the BI team at My Jewellery?
All team members are quite young, and because the team is only existing for two years, we have seen it grow into an actual team. No challenge is big enough to stop us, and everyone wants to help each other or collaborate on projects.

Which project are you most proud of?
I always get happy when I’m making models to optimise processes so that the lives of our colleagues become much easier!

What do you enjoy the most about working in the BI team at My Jewellery?
My Jewellery is a fast-growing company, so many responsibilities and challenging projects head your way right from the start. My daily work also ranges from projects for marketing, to projects for the warehouse. Especially in terms of data, there’s so much interesting information to do fun things with
