Meet the team | Supply Chain

By Victoria Cowan,  14 december 2021

We’d like to introduce you to our My Jewellery Supply Chain team. The team that makes sure all of our products are in the right place at the right time, and in the required amounts. From keeping up with the supplies in the warehouse to stocking the shops and our customers, the Supply Chain team is the key between every department. Curious to know more about the roles within the Supply Chain team? Read this blog to find out!

Role: Supply Chain planner

Can you tell us a little about your daily tasks?
I’m primarily responsible for safe-guarding our commercial schedule. I make sure my colleagues in the warehouse and at the boutiques have enough time to process all of the items, before launching a new collection. Besides that, I also check our sales daily to make sure new products and extra orders are in stock at the right time. To do this, I make agreements with our suppliers about how and when they’re able to deliver certain orders. I also support our buyers with various logistical tasks and act as the link between HQ and our warehouse for incoming goods.

What’s the most interesting aspect of working for the Supply Chain team at My Jewellery?
I most enjoy supporting large logistical projects like collaborations with big brands, and our yearly Advent calendar. It’s really fun to work on something as a team, everyone working within their own specialty, and making it into a big success together!

What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the growth we’ve experienced recently. Three years ago I was the only member of the Supply Chain team and now there’s four of us. At first we’d make all our decisions based on gut feeling and experience, now we have data and dashboards that keep track of everything we do and guide our decision making process. We also used to make lists to keep track of our admin, and now most of those tasks are registered in our system.

What do you love most about working for the Supply Chain team?
We’re a relatively small team which means we can learn a lot from each other and really make a difference together. Because we’re the link within the company we work with many different teams and projects, which means no two days are the same!

Role: Supply Chain planner

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
For the past 2 years, and very happily!

Can you tell us a little about your daily tasks?
In the morning I’ll start by checking the sales for B2C and retail. I check the product performance and analyse the sales over a certain period of time, before making sales suggestions if needed. During meetings with different departments we’ll evaluate our current collections and discuss future plans. Besides that I’m in charge of restocking our My Jewellery boutiques, so they always look amazing.

What’s the most interesting aspect of working for the Supply Chain team at My Jewellery?
The diversity of the job, that’s what drives me most. Personally, I love translating the numbers we see on a daily basis into commercial targets, for our online webshop and our boutiques.

What are you most proud of?
Introducing new insights through figures and dashboards. So, we recently started working with product life cycles, which makes it easier for us to keep check on the sales speed of our products and allows us to adjust them or create more appropriate sales. Besides that we recently started a new way of stocking up our boutiques, which ensures the products are in the right place.

Role: Supply Chain manager

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
It’s been 2 months

Can you tell us a little about your daily tasks?
Managing the delivery of the right products at the right moment, and to the right place isn’t easy. No two days are the same. The key is to go through all the processes correctly. So, one day I’ll be overseeing the development of a part of the system, and the next day I’ll be repairing a system failure.

What’s the most interesting aspect of working for the Supply Chain team at My Jewellery?
Speed and adaptability are key in our work. Shortening product run throughs, continuously launching new collections and implementing innovations within our processes always gives me energy.

What are you most proud of?
Oh, tricky. I’ve only been here for a short while, so at the moment I’m just really proud of the team spirit and our teamwork.

What do you love most about working for the Supply Chain team?
I enjoy working with a team to translate and implement strategies into practice. In the end, the goal is to give our customers the best experience.

Collega Bjorn Nijmeijer
Functie: Merchandise planner

How long have you been working at My Jewellery?
5 months.

Can you tell us a little about your daily tasks?
I start every day by checking the previous day’s turnover, which I will then compare with that of the week before or last year’s. That way I can estimate whether we have enough in stock to reach our targeted turnover.

What’s the most interesting aspect of working for the Supply Chain team at My Jewellery?
I really enjoy working with numbers, for instance, calculating how much turnover we can make with our current stock.

What are you most proud of?
For me this has to be setting up the clothing budget for 2022 and advising the purchasing team on how much stock to buy in.

What do you love most about working for the Supply Chain team?
Fun at the office and the speed of our products.
